Nisa Homes
Branding • Merchandise • Social Media
About Nisa Homes is a group of transitional homes for women & children experiencing domestic violence, poverty, homelessness or seeking asylum. Their aim is not just to have women survive and continue a life of dependence on services and assistance, their goal is to assist women in becoming independent, self-sufficient and active members of the community and society as a whole.

Role I worked with Nisa Homes as a graphic designer in summer of 2019. I worked alongside the marketing team to implement strategies to further their brand awareness. Nisa Homes is an established organization, and wanted to change their aesthetic to go with their brand slogan of "Shelter, Heal, Flourish". I pitched to swap some of their existing colours to brighter, fresh looking colours. We wanted to emulate a sense of hope and light to their brand deliverables. This goal was achieved, the new brand colour palette was received well.

The new brand colour palette. The addition with the most impact is the peach colour, #E58365. This colour replaced both magenta and dark purple from their previous palette, really freshening their look up and eliminating the need for a large and dark colour palette.
Merchandise
One of the marketing strategies we came up with to increase brand awareness was to create and sell merchandise. I designed one of the two designs sold. This "Bloom" design was put on tote bags and mobile pop-sockets.

REAL MEN – Social Media Campaign
This campaign was created to raise awareness about the 16 days of activism against gender-based violence which takes place yearly on November 25th. It was started by activists at the inaugural Women’s Global Leadership Institute in 1991 and continues to be coordinated each year by the Center for Women’s Global Leadership. I was given the copy by the marketing team and designed a series of 16 posts for Instagram & Facebook. The campaign generated significant engagement and sparked conversation regarding domestic violence and ways to help.
Reflections & Takeaways
I really enjoyed my time working at Nisa Homes, the work they do for vulnerable women & children is important and much needed. I firmly believe that design is not self-serving and requires purpose. Working with the marketing team I learned a lot about how marketing initiatives and strategies are implemented to the overall brand strategy and how the organization is seen and managed as a whole. The rebrand was received well and truly aligns with their values of hope and healing.
